South Baja Dive Excursions First Stop… Gordo Banks!

The trip to Gordo Banks is generally operated from the marina in Cabo San Lucas. We depart the Marina by 7:00 AM and arrive at Gordo Banks around 8:30 AM. After two dives and a long surface interval, we arrive back to Cabo around 2:00 PM depending on the conditions.

2 Tank Tour 7-8 hours $208.00 USD
3 Tank Tour 8-9 hours $265.00 USD

Gordo Banks is an advanced dive site located approximately 5 miles off shore of San Jose del Cabo. The seamount starts at about 100 feet and drops from there. The site is known for encounters with Hammerhead Sharks, Giant Mantas, and other Pelagic Animals. If this is your first time diving with Nautilus Dive Tech, we will ask that you make a check out dive before heading to Gordo Banks. Divers need to be comfortable making a blue water drift as well as be proficient in using a Surface Marker Buoy. Dive perquisites include an Advanced Open Water Certification and a minimum of 50 logged dives. Those divers who are not yet nitrox certified will be given a detailed briefing regarding nitrox diving prior to the first immersion. You will use EAN 28 as a safety gas during the activity.

Diving East Cape

Road trip up the East Cape Next Stop… Cabo Pulmo!

The group gets on the road about 6:00 AM and starts heading up the East Cape. Once we exit San Jose Del Cabo, we will travel north to La Ribera, and then south to Cabo Pulmo. The drive takes approximately two hours from Cabo San Lucas. We plan to enter the water between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM.

2 Tank Tour 10-11 hours $259.00 USD
3 Tank Tour 12-13 hours $319.00 USD

Local regulations allow for a maximum of 60 minutes bottom time per site. We normally conclude the diving activities around 1:00 PM and then have lunch at one of the local restaurants. Arrival time back in Cabo is usually between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Traveling to Cabo Pulmo is a little bit like stepping in a time machine. The area is self-contained relying on solar power or generators for electricity. There is no traffic, or noises of the city. A small fishing village has turned into an ecotourism paradise. Cabo Pulmo was established as a Marine Park in 1995. It is one of only three living reefs in North America and the only one in the Sea of Cortez. The park consists of multiple fingers of hard coral that span across the park’s boundaries. The average depth is 50-60 feet.

East Cape tours include: Guide, Boat Charter, Transportation, Tanks, Weights, Lunch, Snacks, Water, and 16% Tax (IVA)

Advanced notification is required to make reservations for our Cabo Pulmo Excursion. The area has seasonally strong winds that can affect the conditions.

Diving in La Paz

A little farther North Next Stop… La Paz!

The group departs Cabo San Lucas at about 6:00 AM. We travel North for about an hour before reaching Todos Santos. We may stop here for some provisions before continuing the journey across the Peninsula to the state capital of La Paz. The group meets the local boat operator before 8:30 AM. The charter departs the marina before 9:00 AM.

2 Tank Tour 10-11 hours $290.00 USD
3 Tank Tour 12-13 hours $349.00 USD

Most dive sites are an hour or more from the Marina, so an early departure is important. While on location we have the opportunity to dive the large Sea Lion Colony, as well as three different shipwrecks (recreational variety). If conditions are good, and the sea is calm, we may be able to get to El Bajo Sea Mount where the hammer head sharks are encountered. Two tank tours generally return to the Marina around 2:00 PM. After stopping for a bite to eat on the way back to Cabo, we return to the dive center between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
